Lee H. Melvin, the University at Buffalo’s vice provost for enrollment management, joined UB in 2013 and has 23 years of experience in admissions and financial aid. He has managed financial aid budgets of more than $235 million and held positions similar to his current post at both Cornell University and the University of Connecticut. He is widely known in national professional circles as a thought leader and strategist with expertise in international and diversity recruitment as well as econometric modeling. He is currently involved in helping launch the Coalition for Access, Affordability and Success, a national effort to improve the college application experience.
John Gottardy also joined UB in 2013, as director of financial aid. He was previously director of operations in the Student Financial Aid Office at The Ohio State University and has nearly 30 years of experience developing strategic solutions for campus recruitment and retention. Prior to his work at OSU he served at Georgia State University, Arizona State University and Temple University. He leads a staff of 37 and manages an annual aid budget of more than $300 million.
